Mapping Contemporary Art in the Heritage Experience

A timely conference investigating contemporary art commissioning within heritage sites. I’ll be speaking along the Creation theme – not the scary religious kind – but the making of new, site-specific work in heritage contexts: why I work this way, the challenges of working with historic venues who have little experience of working with contemporary artists and how contemporary art can deepen and enrich audience’s understanding of a place.
Rather than talking in abstract terms, I will position my presentation in the context of ‘Consumption‘ – the work I made for Ripon Museums.
