Game on!

Posted 5 years ago

I am absolutely over the moon to have had ‘Ribbons‘ commissioned for Leeds! It’ll be the biggest project I’ve worked on to date as an artist and potentially a pivotal moment in my career. And the fact it’s happening in my home city in such a visible and prestigious location is a huge honour.

This is great not just for me, but also for women in Leeds whose names will be included on the sculpture. Women make a massive contribution to our city – creatively, economically and socially – but all too often their achievements are marginalised or rendered completely invisible. This is a timely project that puts women past and present centre stage in a joyful celebration of womanhood!

I’ll be posting more shortly about how you can get involved. In the meantime, you can check out the maquette and drawings at Leeds Arts University Gallery until 4 July or catch up with the news on the Yorkshire Evening Post website.

Leeds Arts University are also hosting a Research Forum on 4 July 3-5pm featuring Professor Griselda Pollack, Hazel Reeves (Artist), Rachel Reeves MP and Sharon Thomas (Artist). It’s FREE and refreshments will be served but booking required via eventbrite.
