Blanket – a sculpture of hope for Leeds

Posted 4 days ago

If you’re looking to support a good cause this Christmas, why not consider making a donation to ‘Blanket‘? That’s the name of the new public sculpture co-created by me, David Hawkins and the amazing community at St George’s Crypt.

For nine months we embarked on a creative journey with people who are homeless who or have experienced homelessness, working in partnership with artists and arts organisations across Leeds. The culmination of this was a proposal for a new public artwork that aims to challenge public perception of homelessness and celebrate the voices of those often marginalised by society.

Your support will enable the fabrication and installation of the sculpture in Leeds city centre. Help us share a message of kindness, dignity and hope this Christmas!

There’s a great video on the Just Giving page – it’s only two minutes long. Please take a moment to watch it and share with family, friends, colleagues and neighbours.

Happy Christmas!
