Excited to be sharing a stage with Cristina Talens on Thursday 11 September, 7pm at Humber Street Gallery as part of Bananarchy!
The exhibition is inspired by the banana ripening rooms that once existed at 64 Humber Street when it was part of the vibrant fruit market that operated there for nearly 250 years. Bananas have been part of the UK diet for hundreds of years and as such have deep cultural connotations. Bananarchy! is a playful and playable response to this, but there is a serious side to the global banana trade.
Cristina is the University of Hull’s Director of Modern Slavery Risk Assessments and conducts social audits and risk assessments on behalf of major UK supermarkets to support them on their requirements of the Modern Slavery Act.
We’ll be chatting about our very different jobs and how bananas have brought us together for this event. Come and join the conversation!
Tickets are free, but please book via www.absolutelycultured.co.uk
Hope to see you there!
