A new commission for the National Railway Museum

Posted 2 years ago

Well chuffed to be working with the National Railway Museum in York to make a new work for Wonderlab opening in 2023. It’s going to be the next iteration of Play Rebellion which took place at Baltic Centre For Contemporary Art 2019-20, only this time it’s going to be permanent.

It continues my interest in the relationship between creativity and play but with an engineering twist. There will be fixed and moveable parts that visitors can use to create their own structures and include a new set of shapes whose form and colour will be inspired by the museum’s exhibits and archives.

I’m also really excited to be working with NRM volunteers and the Snappy Trust to ensure the artwork challenges visitors of all abilities and ages. The aim is to create a fun and social experience that encourages creative thinking, teamwork and risk taking for everyone.
